Fox & Friends meteorologist Janice Dean explains how she purposefully finds the silver lining in every cloud, no matter what challenge she faces.
Janice is well-known for the infectious joy she brings to segments on Fox & Friends, no matter the weather. Yet many of her fans know there's more to her story than blizzards that are brewing or National Pancake Day celebrations.Â
In this honest yet optimistic book, Janice reveals obstacles she's faced that could have severely impacted any professional woman's career, from online trolls to health issues to abusive and sexist bosses. In Mostly Sunny, she talks about it all, including the fateful path meeting her firefighting husband after he lost his colleagues on 9/11; the day she had to talk to her two small children about her multiple sclerosis; and how the pressure on women in television led her to a cosmetic procedure that could have ended her career.Â
But no matter what storms life throws at her, Janice refuses to let setbacks and challenges rain on her parade or cloud her outlook. Thanks to supportive coworkers and an upbeat attitude, she's mastered turning countless would-be losses into victories. Now, she shares her stories, alternately funny, heartwarming, and touching, in the hopes that they will help others make it through their rainiest days.

Who knew this woman had such a life story? I love Janice Dean on Fox and Friends, and knew she worked with Don Imus for a short period of time, but the journey she details in this book is filled with adventure. Several stories are heartbreaking (her relationship with her dad, MS diagnosis and a terrible home invasion) but there's also incredible victories and such a love story between Janice and her husband. You can tell her role as a mom and wife is her biggest priority and gives her the most joy and satisfaction in life. This book is time well spent, and you will feel like you know Janice like she's your very best friend!
I couldn’t put the book down! Janice Dean wrote such a fascinating book about what it’s like to work on TV - Fox News and Don Imus especially - and the dynamic of smilimg for the audience while fighting behind the scenes with harassment and hostility. The other aspect of the book that is equally as interesting is how she has faced living with Multiple Sclerosis in the public eye but never let it define her or affect her gratitude for her family and friends and blessings. You can just tell from the book that she’s a genuinely good person and that why she’s had such a successful career with the audience. This is a must read if you’re interested in what goes on behind the scenes in TV or if you need a guide book for overcoming life’s challenges and staying optimistic.
Loved this book! Loved Janice Dean's honesty and candor. Her struggle with MS very interesting. It was just a really good book that I read straight through. Will recommend .
You're going to love her even more after reading this book. She is honest, hilarious, brave and entertaining. She shares the best and worst of her life, and you'll be cheering for her all along the journey. If you've had tough times (who hasn't in this life?) you'll be so encouraged and inspired. Also, her love story is one for the movies! Get your tissues ready - tears of laughter and tears of sadness for the toughest moments. This book is 5-stars all the way!
Janice Dean's book is chock-full of interesting stories and insights. I agree with an earlier review, you've got to love this lady! Her specific challenges and dilemmas also highlight the pitfalls and joys of building a career and a family, and taking care of oneself in the process. I host a community TV show for women and am constantly amazed at how bravely they fight to just keep going. This is recommended reading for women at early and mid life stages. Bravo, Janice!
I downloaded the audio version within seconds of its availability. I have no problem saying I wept in anger and sympathy when JD spoke of her suffering, and wept again in joy when she spoke of her triumphs. When I first started seeing her on Fox & Friends it was clear there was something special about “Janice Dean, The Weather Machine†but I had no idea what was behind that big beautiful smile and ebullient personally we all see.Janice, you are the most perfectly beautiful woman I’ve never met. And, since they’re part of you, your legs are just as beautiful - never let anyone hurt you for who you are or what God made. I’m so happy to know you’re happily married (seems rare in your industry) and married a real man and genuine sweetheart. I’m just as lucky in that I married my fantasy girl. I guess Sean and I are most fortunate men. This book will make seeing you on the TV more enjoyable and I feel like I’ve met a friend. If you’re (potential buyer) reading this and wondering if you should buy this book - I urge you to get it right now. Especially, if you want to get to know a TV personality like your best childhood friend.Best to all and now I’m off to buy the Freddy series and read them to my daughter. [brief edit: Something I've never done before, I loved this book so much I posted this review to all my FB friends.]
